This weekend we started some of our seeds inside: tomatoes, bell peppers and eggplant. We used organic seed starting soil, trays that will go directly into the soil when the seedlings are ready, and three sets of eager hands.
Now, lest anyone think that this part of gardening is a blissful and beautiful experience with compliant children, our object lesson eventually dissolved into tears and fighting over the newly purchased pink watering can. Just an example of the realities of our attempts at parenthood, sustainability, and the environmental education of our children.
But we will press on because most of the time, it’s a lot of satisfying fun.
